We were invited to assist in the re-branding of the Current ArtSpace in Chapel Hill, now recognizing donor Joan H. Gillings for her contributions.

The new Joan H. Gillings ArtSpace sign was designed to replace an earlier, box-enclosed neon sign in the entry hallway to the performance space; we removed the existing sign and replaced it with a direct-mounted version measuring about 9 feet wide and standing approximately 5.5 feet off the ground.

As theatre-goers will line up in this hallway prior to entering the performance space, we wanted to ensure that the neon was protected against accidental or intentional contact, so we created a pair of clear acrylic covers to allow the neon to shine brightly while still remaining out of reach for inquisitive hands. A set of aluminum standoffs help to complete the polished look of the protected piece.
